A Sacred and Profane Christmas from the Iberian Peninsula
Manchester Renaissance Ensemble will perform a programme featuring two distinct aspects of music from the Iberian Peninsula in the 16th century. The first half will focus on high church polyphony by Victoria, Guerrero and Morales, and the second will explore the villancicos (Spanish part-songs) of the Cancionero de Upsala and others with period instruments. Manchester Renaissance Ensemble’s inaugural concert is directed by Rory Johnston.
