PERFORMER BIOGRAPHY
Matthew Lau piano
As a soloist, Matthew has enjoyed playing in various concerts and recitals, such as the Chester Lunchtime Concert Series at Wesley Church, Ealing St Barnabas Church Friday Concert Series and the Leigh Music Society. During his time at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, he had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of performances, including the RNCM Keyboard Day, informal and formal lunchtime concerts. As well as concerts, Matthew enjoys taking part in competitions. In 2018, Matthew represented the JRNCM in the Beethoven Junior Intercollegiate Piano competition and was awarded 1st place, becoming the first winner of the competition from the Junior RNCM. After completing four years at the JRNCM, Matthew continued his passion for music performance and is now a third-year pianist at the RNCM studying on the BMus Intensive pathway, continuing under the tutorship of John Gough. During his first two years, Matthew has had the pleasure of playing to established artists, such as Kathryn Stott, Pascal Rogé and Trio Gaspard.
