The first half of today’s concert features historical performances by duos and small ensembles under the direction of Harvey Davies. The programme includes ‘El bajel que no recela’ from José de Nebra’s (1702–1768) Vendado es amor, no es ciego; Beethoven (1770–1827), Horn Sonata in F major, Op. 17; Cherubini (1760–1842) Sonata No. 1. In the second half of the concert Adele Xiang, cello, will be accompanied by Julian Clef in a performance of Kodaly (1882–1967) Solo Sonata, first movement, and Shostakovich (1906–1975) Cello Sonata, first movement.
